About The SRCC LITERARY FESTIVAL 2008
To be organised on 27-28 November 2008 in the SRCC campus, the SRCC Literary Festival will be one of the few literary festivals in the University of Delhi with participation from across the University.

The two day event will have a plethora of well-conceived literary events-both competitive and non-competitive. A tentative list of events stands as follows:

Book Bazaar: A Two-Day Book Fair

The organizers will tie-up with a leading bookstore or publishing house for a two-day book-fair in the SRCC Campus. Books traversing across genres will be exhibited giving the sellers and the book-lovers a unique opportunity to interact with each other.

Literature in Films: Shades of Shakespeare’s Othello

This will be a non-competitive event entailing the screening of three different cinematic interpretations of Shakespeare’s Othello and a succeeding discussion by a filmmaker and/or an expert on Shakespearean Literature. The screenings will be held in the SRCC Seminar Room.

Flash Extempore: A test of mental agility, creativity and oratory skills

Participants will be shown a picture for 5 seconds, after which they will immediately start speaking for 3 minutes on the picture they were shown. This will be a competitive event with participation from various colleges of University and attractive cash prizes.

Go Khatak: Mobile Photography Competition

Students will be asked to send their photographs, captured by their mobile phones on a given theme. These photographs will be exhibited during the two days, and attractive cash prizes will be given to the best photograph as decided by an independent panel of expert photographers.

Design My Jacket: Book Cover Design Competition
Participants will be given the details of a fictitious book and asked to design its cover, using a specified medium. The best covers will be selected and awarded by expert designers and professional book designers.

Meet the Author: A Book-Reading Session

The organisers of the festival will tie-up with a leading publishing house for an exclusive book-reading session of some of the publisher’s latest books by the authors themselves. This will be followed by interaction with the audience by means of a round of book discussion.

Flair: A Creative-Writing Competition

This will be a competitive event asking participants to write a creative piece on a topic declared on-the-spot. Attractive prizes will be given to the three best entries.

Verses: A Poetry Writing Competition

On the lines of Flair, Verses requires participants to compose a sonnet on-the-spot on a given topic. Attractive prizes will be given to the three best entries.

Wordathon-A test of intelligence and teamwork

In teams of three, participants will have to go through three gruelling stages: Word Sudoku, Scrabble and Limerick. The teams points will then be added up and the first two teams will be given attractive cash prizes and vouchers.

LitQuest 2008: A Literary Quiz

To be conducted by a renowned quiz master, this literary quiz will test participants through various rounds, with the promise of attractive cash prizes and vouchers.
